Anyone have the new mac mini with the 9400m graphics card.. how does it run eq at higher resolutions? Looking for a mac that will run eqmac without problem and quickly. Would like the benefits of a mac world as well, so thought the newer mac mini may fit the bill.. just concerned about the graphics card in it.

In the help section someone posted that the mini with 4gb of RAM will run it pretty well with max effects on, but in PoK it lags. With 2gb of RAM they had to turn down spell effects and textures and in PoK it stuttered a lot.

It appears there is also an issue with mouse lag with the new mini's. I myself was going to pick one up this evening but I'm not sure what I should do at this point.

It seems the mouse lag is a mac thing in general from what I have heard.

I have a new mini mac $599 version that i upgraded to 4gb RAM and it seems to do ok but I have noticed considerable mouse lag.

I removed the texture from my chat window and my spell bar and replaced it with a solid tint, it seemed to help alot /shrug.

also try the command /mousespeed 2 or /mousespeed 3

Im playing t a resolution of 1680 x 1050

most everything on high

There is'nt really a specific problem with mouse lag, the problem is that the mouse curser in EQ is locked to your frame rate, poor framerate = laggy mouse cursor. The only way you can really improve things is to improve your framerate.

lower lag ui's help, lower resolutions, using old models

this program was posted a while back on here which shows you your framerate, cpu and gpu usage http://www.atpurpose.com/atMonitor/
i found it very handy in helping reduce framerate issues and finding which UI worked best for me.

If the mouse lag is determined by your frame rate, what type of computer would we need to buy to not lag while say 2 or 3 boxing with models and textures on? Anyone have a Mac that cost under $1k but would do what we're looking for as far as performance goes?

The problem is that EQMac doesn't use the hardware mouse as it does on the PC side. This will slow it down, especially on the slower Intel systems since the game is translated by Rosetta. Some people have had success with a utility program called USB Overdrive to help speed up the mouse in EQ to compensate for the lag.
