I've been asked about my UI so here is a screenshot of it:

This is a version I use that is largely sculpted from the Default UI.

This is a performace associated UI.
I am running on a 12" G4 ibook so screen real estate and speed are critical.
I am working on one that is more 'mac looking' with the same performance criteria.

/Viewport is a must
All background transparency are set.
Most window textures are removed. The rest I am hunting down.
Boarders are stripped.
Scroll bar width is reduced.
No windows overlap each other or the view window.
Includes health %s, XP and AA%, A nice timer with sliders and the compass mod.
Pink buff border fixed.

Notice the very efficient chat window setup:
1. battle spam
2. spells
3. ALL chat - My chat always goes here.
(I NEVER miss any chat or RS because I only have to look in ONE place, no clutter just the chat) *this may not work for everyone but it is very effective for me.
(I also put rampage and flurry in this window so never miss them either.)
4. skills etc

Chat colors are very important to information recognition.
/tell /say /ooc /auc /em /gu /rs all have distinct recognizable colors

My battle spam window filters are set to minimum information for my hits (just numbers in orange)
Medium detail for others.

I am an 'information' oriented intuitive player. (one reason I play ranger class, we have the most information)
My UI is tailored to my play style.

large track window always active (ranger specific ofcourse)

Where might another Ranger download this UI?

Excellent I can't tell you how helpful that was to see a glimpse of another's world. Very nice and efficient, I'm learning the needs for all the various things i see in your windows.

My main trouble is often wanting to get to many things on my main hot button page. The less i use my mouse the better.

I noticed no spells in your hot buttons, many take up my front page, i don't really like it but I like using keys to trigger them, example the number keys assigned to hot buttons.

Are your most handy spells assigned to keys , or is it done through the mouse where i see them above?

Take care,

Echo

Spell gems can be activated by their own command keys: Option 1 - 8

I have found that for a hybrid class, that this is efficient. Hybrids have numerous functions to perform and hotkeys are at an absolute premium.
I have a second page of hotkeys that I SHIFT to for immediate access to things like Disciplines: Trushot, Weaponshield etc.

When I play a healer or caster alt, I tend to have SOME spells directly attached to one button hotkeys along with their chat macros.

Hotkeys should be set up to do the things that are needed on a muscle memory basis in a crisis situation, this will vary by class and even by player.
Hybrids especially lend themselves to interpretive playstyle.

Since I posted this, I have moved to a 15" macbook pro but use the same setup which simply gives me more screen to see the world with.

Ill try to post the bits Im using that are different than the standard UI.

Much of my layout is dependent on manual placement of windows and manually setting font colors etc. So it will take a bit of your time to get it to look as clean as this screenshot.

I too use one single window for all communication. I know others do not, but I never understood this. Besides having to look in only one place for chat, there is also the order that needs to be considered. If it is all in one spot, communication from different sources can easily be placed in the order it came in. Things can happen fast in this game, and I only want to look to one spot for the latest info.

Lyrad, I notice you have some timers running.

What do you use them for and where did you get them?

I use them typically for mob spawn times but they have many other uses, buff duration, mob cast times etc.
I got them initially from http://www.timermod.com and then modified them a bit for my own preference.

This is fine...if you don't have 4-5 chat channels, tells, /rs instruction, shouts, yells, ooc, /auc, etc, etc you're trying to keep up with. I know our /gu can get pretty chatty during raids, tells can be flying off the hook, kill calls, switches, etc all happen, so um...ya, personally couldn't keep up with umpteen different chats in one window. =p

Say
Tell
Group
Guild
Raid
3 Temerity channels
Alliance

These are all the channels I use in one window. I am just saying this is what works for me. It is simpler, and as everything is color coded in very different colors I have never had a problem. Diverting eyes around to different spots (currently I use three windows) is the easiest way to lose track of something, so I try and limit that. My chatfontsize is also small (2 maybe), but I can see it ok. I use a 12" macbook at the moment.

Maybe with another channel or two it could be a bit much. I have considered moving guildsay to its own window though, as in Temerity guildsay and raidsay are kept very separate from one another, but my screen space is at a premium.

The only times I have ever been accussed of missing something on a raid are when I was pulling (well, as far as I know, of course).

I think it depends on Class as well as screen space.

As a cleric, i have raid, heal channels, rampage and enrage all in one window, everthing else in another.

From my perspective, everything i need to keep the MT alive is then all in one place, everything else that happens after the engage is more or less irrelevant!

During the crawls and the like, its easy to keep track on 2 windows of text for group/tells and other channels.

Good Question...I'm not sure, maybe someone else could speak more to this.
