The grey mud is used in another quest I think and I've never seen it... I don't remember seeing a lot of the other stuff either in fact, except the Loda Kai things...

That doesn't surprise me a bit. The low mobs in Shar Vahl drop all kinds of weird stuff, which is either no-drop or which sells for coppers, and which are used in one or another intricate quests.

I'm actually looking forward to going through those quests.

If you want a neat little backpack, just collect the piles of refuse that are scattered across the Thicket and turn them into the Vah Shir that patrols the path near the tents. You're getting a free pack AND cleaning up Shadeweaver's Thicket. Everybody wins!

Yen,

That's exactly Zahla's first set of armor when I was a lonely leve 2-20 beastlord back in 2003. Hehe.

and i think you already mentioned Chialle's ring from Shar Vahl...

It's really a great starting zone. Good luck.

Yeah, I already got Chiales Friendship Ring. The Shar Vahl quests look beautifully scripted. The designers put a lot of thought into them (though that doens't mean that some of them aren't diabolical <g>)

One thing I like about this, is that it's recreating a bit of the feel I had for the server back in 2003. I ran into some low-level nekkid folks in East Commons, and buffed them with my leet level 1 shaman spells. (I also buffed a 40ish warrior in Everfrost!)

Does anybody's newbie armor require bricks of crude iron ore? If so, I've got one in the back. Thank you Fippy Darkpaw.

You Killed Fippy!

Eugor (halfling rogue) was collecting crude iron ore for his gear.

Given that Illyric started out in Qeynos, there is a certain nostalgia involved in whacking Fippy when I get the chance.

Yes I want a Freeport Militia tunic. I already ran that rogue quest once .. I'm sure you remember the one .. and I'm remembering how long it took to get that faction high enough. It would be faster turning in scalps in HighPass, if I can get them and can manage to get to the captain without dying.

Mavi would look very good in that.

All my newb gear comes from shadeweavers (or in one case, shar vahl itself) -

Ghulam Armor -

Gloves - Four Sharp Bloodling Mandibles from Cht'Thk Bloodlings
Bracer - Four Broken Skulls from Loda Kai Brigands
Boots - Four Shadowed Claws from Lesser Shades
Sleeves - Four Loda Kai Earrings from a Loda Kai Guardian or Trader
Cap - Four Loda Kai Insignia from Loda Kai Trader
Pants - Four Saurek Claw Beast Fangs
Tunic - Four Bloodbulk Carapaces

Treated Hopperhide Buckler plus Cloak of the Dar Khura Recruit - (this stuff drops from shar vahl pit)
- ALL ITEMS GATHERED (need to get pottery up to do combine)

There are also some other armor options in Shadeweavers. It's been a long time but Grahwl was wearing sleeves well into his 30's from a quest given by one of the fire walkers i believe.

thanks I'll look into it. the vah shir were given a LOT of quests. I guess partly because before the PoP came out, they were really isolated. (Think about getting to the nexus from Shar Vahl, by way of paludial .. yeesh).
