for baking 191+, things get harder

Misty Thicket Picnics go the whole way to 250, but they have MANY combines. I refused to do them becuase of the excessive clicking.

There are several things in Jagged Pine Forest that can be used in simple combines. Plant Shoots are the easiest to get, but they have to be foraged.

When I GMed baking, I did it mostly with planar ingredients, Hobgoblin Surprise, Justice Fruit Pies, Hero Sandwiches, etc.

Dragon Meat is also great, but you need to kill Velious dragons to get it...

I found that for higher level baking and brewing (150+), the following worked pretty well:

After finishing with Filleted Bear (143), I made a fairly big jump to Centi Toe Stew and Centi Steaks (triv 188) when I could get the ingredients( I found most of the Centi Meats and Centi Toes on various PoK and Bazaar merchants), but mainly focused on the Patty Melts (triv 191).

After that, the Ohabah Truffles and Storm Salmon Fillets were my next step (both triv at 202)....although the Brown Algae Spices are a bit of a pain to get (only sold in CS, so you need a port) and the Storm Salmon are an uncommon fish.

After that, I began with Breaded Storm Salmon until 15....at this point, you should have a high enough fishing skill, but the foraged Bread Crumbs are fairly rare, as not many people hang around PoJ anymore.

After that (or if you couldn't do the above), I started working full-time on the Halas Pies...havn't finished them yet...triv is 226, I'm at 220.

After that, I plan on Lotus Pies until 236, Holy Cake until 242, and then Anaconda/Griffon Melts until 250 (triv is 272).

As far as brewing goes, I basically followed the path that's already been suggested....after Skull Ale at 151, I hit the Faydwer Shakers followed by the Shar Vahl Essence. Although I lack the first NTCM AA to get the brewing over 200, I plan on doing Grobbs till 216 (everything is storebought), then Hero Brews till 248 (storebought and extremely cheap).

Still in game. Just whittling down the number of forums I have time to check on a daily basis. Makes it easier if all the emails go to one central location.

Some observations from a neophyte monk (with much roguish experience)

- With the same level of safefall, my monk takes far less damage on the same drop as my rogue. This may be due to the difference in weight.

- A good place to practice safefall, and in the beginning bind wounds, is the entry teleporter to Erudin. There is an angle (just off east) that you can use to teleport up and then jump down with autorun.

- Oddly, if I have a window open while using safefall, either inventory or skills, I consistently take more damage. At one point, I'd take NO damage with no windows open, but 8-10 points per jump if I had a window open.

-There is plenty of info out there on where to level quickly, but sometimes I wanted to slow down to practice my melee skills. Good places for that:
-- Northern Desert of Ro - for levels about 4 - 10.
-- the NE end of Steamfont - for levels about 10 - 18
-- the northern edge of the Overthere - levels about 18 - 23

(bowing with humility to the actual monks among us)

I'm glad you did, I've been meaning to ask you about something.

I've noticed that skilling up the various kicks is S L O W, about on par with skilling up backstab, except that there are a bunch of kicks to learn. So I never get them maxed before I get a new one .. I finally got one (flying kick) over 100. Is there a trick to this? Do I need to work on all of them?

Tiye is 34 now, and working on Tizmaks in Great Divide (which are dark blue to her). She's also working out FD splitting, and intimidation techniques. Good stuff!

I alternate leveling up the fighting skills. I have them tied to my directional arrows, and when I'm attacking, I keep moving my monk around. When I notice that one of the skills is lagging behind the others, I switch it out for the highest leveled skill. All of my skills are slowly creaping up. I think you should level all of the fighting skills. I read somewhere long ago that some of the AA skills depend on these.

I haven't tied kick to the arrows, instead I have been tying my current "kick" tied to a macro hotkey that also includes disarm. (And also beg, but that part is just frivolous). I smack it whenever "kick" becomes available.

Haste would help speed up the skillups I think, because that makes the kick become available more often (at least, I know it makes backstab refresh faster, and i'm guessing kick works that way too). I'm currently working on Captn Nalots Eyepatch (arrrrr!) to help with that.
