1) Chance to "start fresh" like the old days. Since the servers will start
from scratch, hopefully there will be fewer twinks + powerlevellers. Yeah,
when EQPC started up a from-scratch server recently, people shot to
the top.. but I'm thinking/hoping the MacEQ community will be less hard core. :)

2) Related to #1, hopefully since there will be fewer hard core players
in MacEQ, there will be more roleplaying + cool events besides just
raiding a dungeon. I know when I was just starting out in EQ, I had
the most fun just travelling the world of Norrath and meeting people
than I did cranking out levels.

3) Related to #1 + 2 :) With this site, eqmac.com, we can help form
Mac EQ into something really cool. I think over the years EQPC degenerated into mindless powerlevelling, and perhaps EQMac will go the same route, but at least we can try to do something from the start. :)

4) It gives me something to do besides play Warcraft 3 (although
Frozen Throne should be out soon.) :D

I totally agree with you that it will be great to start on a 'fresh' Mac server. I played on 5 servers during my 4 years with EQPC because I got sick of the powerleverlers and the lack of any sort of 'community' feeling.

I had that community feeling during beta and I hope that it continues on when EQMac goes live.

Me too =) E'ci, Karana, Tallon Zek, Vallon Zek, and finnaly Sullon Zek. E'ci had an alrighty community to it, probably because I knew a lot of people on it. Believe it or not, Sullon had the best community I could find. Everyone helped each other out because it was a scary world out there! I played good team and only PvP'd for about a month.

There will be some powergamers and "uber types", but I'm sure the newbies will out weigh those types (newbie is not a bad thing!).

Truthfully, I said this on the beta boards too, I'm looking forward to actually helping out all of the new players and getting to know new people on there now. I did the PC thing for four years or so, this could be much different.

Lastly.. when I played on the PC, my goal was to level level level. Needed to keep up w/ co-workers. I could care less on the Mac, I'm playing it from scratch so I can enjoy it this time! The dungeons, tradeskills, quests, and of course, levels.

I am a newbie, having never played EQ on the PC. I tried out the Beta and am hooked. I am very excited about starting fresh along with others.

It is great to hear that people out there want to role-play or aren't so hyped up on just getting level after level.

So far... I've haven't run into but a few "non-powerlevelers". Most people I try to chat with either ignore me or brush me off cause I'm a newbie.

Sigh... I started playing Wc3:FT again.

Some of the people "Ignorining you" could be newbies, and dont know how to send tell or OOC yet. I have found many of those already.

Amen to that! It took me a while to learn how to communicate in EQ. The channel concept is a little counter-intuitive, and not very well documented. Heck, I just learned how to use the raid channel yesterday, proving that even us "powerlevelers" need help, too.

powerleveling is one of the reasons I quit playing PCEQ when I did. I got my friend into it before Kunark came out and he passed me in levels so fast I was left to play by myself. Which was incredibly boring since I was a necro...I only made it to level 22 before I got sick I called it quits. I'm a naturally slow leveler. Well slower than most people. I also took a HUGE break from the game which hurt my leveling as well.

This time around it's good to see people not so concerned about leveling. I also play Dark Age of Camelot on the PC, so I'm not always going to be playing EQMac. Which obviously is going to leave me behind, but this time I'm not so concerned about it cuz there will always be people my level to group with since it's a fresh server.

I thought power leveling is when a higher level helps a lower level get exp by heals, buffs, ect. What most of you are talking about is just leveling. Then there is another form of leveling, can't think of the name of it at the moment, where 2 or 3 people play the same character so they are on almost 24-7

technically powerleveling, or PL is exactly that...a higher level character helping a lower level character level up really fast. But when people are leveling up really fast and that's all they do all day long, you can call it powerleveling. Because basically it's like helping yourself to level really fast...or giving yourself a PL ;)
