To clarify before the flames start:

Temerity expects all members who are online to attend whatever raid is happening (exceptions for level requirements/faction issues/etc). We do not expect you to rearrange your RL to be online for every single raid...

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, once you have a solid population (3k people online during the evenings) and they are mostly at 65ish, you will find a family oriented guild that occasionally raids. There are several on Prexus but we are an old old server. There probably aren't that many on newer servers, but once the population level reaches the cap, they will form. It's inevitable, but only if you have the population to support it.

That would be annoying sometimes. What if I'm working on skilltrades? What if I'm in the middle of finishing a quest? What if... I just wanna say hi to friends online but I'm in no condition to raid otherwise? Requirement is a really poor word. If you don't expect me to rearrange my RL, why should you expect me to rearrange my virtual one?

There are always exceptions, but Temerity is clearly not the guild for you...

It took a team effort to get to where we are. A big part of that effort is putting aside one's personal (in game) tasks for the benefit of the guild.

Solis.... I am thinking the reason Temerity does what we are learning they do is because they have their requirements. Tradeskilling, questing, BSing with friends the entire night and so on, all things that can be done at your leisure for 55 levels (Temerity members please correct me if I have your 'to even be considered level requirement right?') and then, it's time to turn your thinking around to a whole new outlook on the game, which in turn is Seeing new zones, never before seen because of toon level/playing experience/playing attitude of the previous 55 levels. At this level and higher your hunger to kick every mobs ass is a much stronger desire than it was at let's say level 30? (and I'm not talking about the REVENGE feeling either, just the mutal feeling) I'm sure tradeskilling/questing and BSing with friends the entire night can still continue, but around the raids and just a little less frequently. But you'll see as you get to level 55 or so, those things matter a little less and the hunger for seeing some UBER cool new mobs is stronger, let alone handing their asses back to them and not the other way around. The Horde is a family guild, and like other independent guilds at this time, experiencing a loss of higher level players. This is indeed a sad thing, but it happens. The smaller guilds are looking for a few good guilds to join together to raid, group, and do quests together. We want to be able to serve a wide range of needs. We'd like to entice our membership to stay with us, as each loss is dramatically felt. Solis, you have no guild brothers or sisters by choice. You however would be welcome to join with us. You have earned much respect in the game and would be able to pick and choose the events you like without being forced to lock yourself into anyone's mold. The Alliance of Friends is an alliance of guilds. We hope to host and enjoy each other's company and still maintain our integrity and individualism.

Solis is 62. He knows more than enough about the game to know what he likes and doesn't like.

I agree that the game changes to more high end content after 55 but I disagree that "things matter a little less." Your argument says really nothing that would convince many that they should allow strict rules governing how they play be imosed on them at the cost of all the things they hitherto loved to do.

Temerity raids 4 days a week. One weekend day, 3 weekday days. The weekday raids are generally 4-5 hours, and the weekend raids are anywhere from 4 to 8-10 depending on the targets and when we start. If you need to show up late, no problem -- join us when you can.

You're welcome to skip all the raids that you want, as long as you're not online. You just won't be nearly as high on the consideration for loot, as we gear up our raiders first, but even occasional raiders can and do get gear.

What you do in the remaining time is completely up to you. Some people quest, some XP, some tradeskill -- most do various combinations of them.

I consider Temerity to be a RL-friendly guild because I don't have to maintain 80% raid attendance to be in it and I can be late to raids if I need to be. And if I need to take a night off, I can. If I need to take 3 weeks off, I can (and have.)

It is true -- we are not "friendly" to telling your guildies that although they helped you kill your target, you'd rather sit in pok and fish all evening =).

And to be blunt, EQ is a game about greed, and that makes it hard, in a guild that raids 4-5 times a week, to make sure you have the balance of real life and game. But I've found I'm much happier when I take the time away from the game that I need -- sometimes going a while with doing RL stuff on raid nights and logging in to solo and kick around on non-raid nights -- and I'd encourage everyone to do what they need to to maintain that balance.

RL > EQ is glib, but true and necessary in the same way that RL > all your hobbies.

My humble advice is to be careful not to over generalize.

There's no argument. You are creating one. My post said nothing to convince?

Go back to your corner, pout a lot more and REALLY think this time.

How does disagreeing with your somewhat elusive points equate to pouting?

The game, like life, is what you make of it. If you choose to make it about greed then it is. :D

This is why we have lots of guilds on our server, not everyone chooses to play the game the same way.

Whatever Ken. Dodging the insult you're trying to throw:

A game that constantly tempts you to always have more more more is as much about greed as is the American way of celebrating the holiday on December 25th. As soon as the game added AA, and as soon as it became largely gear-focussed at the upper end, it pretty much sealed this fate because it's never over and you never can win. Can you make it otherwise? Yes, hence my comment above, that you need to be careful to recognize it and not get sucked into it.

Yes I am choosing to play the game by working to discover the cleric spell, Evil Eye Laser Beams.

They say it doesn't exist but I WILL PROVE THEM WRONG!

I hear it lets me win EQ though!

Might want to check the shark rumored to be in Lake Rathear with a frickin' lazer beam on it's head...
