I agree!

The classicals are important to note. They put all others to shame.

U are about to receive my Complete CD listing...

[warning, the message could not be sent because too big (1.67 GB)]

If we start to list all the Good Music we hear, I fear that we can halt this board...

Anyway, just a hint. Find and listen Les Négresses Vertes (a site about them is http://www.digiserve.com/lnv/

C ya ;-{))

Forgive me. I thought this was our favorite music post. This is what I listen to most.

I suppose if you want my favorite new artist, I would say try Joe Lavano. Master sax player, jazz musician.

Heh, yep, this is post is intended not only to find out what music my fellow Everquesters enjoy, but also to see if anyone has heard anything good that I have not heard of before.

I only listed my most favorite in my initial post, but I also like: Metallica (Black, Load, Reload), Linkin Park, Switchblade Symphony and Pet (both disbanded), Les Miserables, Fiona Apple and Enya.

I prefer mostly female singers and musicians, but don't mind the occasional male vocalist who has something to say and can get heard over the guitars.

I also dig violin music and have a CD by both Ashley MacIsaac and Vanessa Mae.

Finally, as can be seen by my Enya choice, I like Irish music. I also like and have music by Loreena McKennit and Clannad, as well as Enya's sister, Maire Brennan.

Anyway, keep up the good posts. I intentionally put this in the public forum for our guild because I wanted everyone to be able to see and add to it.

Thanks!

Kirrmarr- Your a big fan of female vocalists eh?? Have you listened to Bjork at all? Everyone in the room right now (3/4 of the band) considers her "alien music". Check her out!

Yep! I liked her first two albums. Her third one was too strange so I didn't get it.

"If you ever sit close to a human, and human behaviour, you'd better be ready to get confused..." - Human Behavior from her first album.

"And if you complain, once more, you'll meet an army of me!" -from Army of Me, on her second CD

She also did some songwriting before that with the Sugarcubes and after that with Madonna on her Bedtime Stories CD, which I have somewhere.

Does anyone remember that S&M style leather video from that CD for "Human Nature"?

"Express yourself, don't repress yourself, <Oops, I didn't know we weren't supposed to talk about sex>"

So, yeah, I have heard Bjork. :-)

Has anyone besides me heard of Switchblade Symphony or Pet?

Tori Amos produced Pet. They did one CD and had one song on the Crow 2 soundtrack. Very metallish with a growl-y frontwoman.

Switchblade Symphony did 3 CD's and were on the Cleopatra Records label. Gothic music with some very good keyboards and lyrics.

I've heard some of Switchblade's stuff, but the whole goth/metal thing doesn't really float my boat. If you wanna here some Bjork-esque "tiny music" I'd suggest Iceland's duo Mum.

Ok, I blame you all for making me lose money today. If anyone cares, you can buy one of The Tragically Hip's albums through iTunes (In a Violet Light), and I found another one (from 1989!) at Best Buy. I also got Godspeed!'s Yanqui U.X.O., and TMBG's John Henry. I have The Tragically' Hip's "Are you ready" stuck in my head right now......

re: Bjork
Has anyone seen the SNL celebrity Jeopardy sketch with her in it? heh.

You have no idea how proud i am that you bought Yanqui U.X.O.!!!!! If you dig on that enough to buy another one of their albums, you should get "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antenna To Heaven". It's considered by many to be the best post-rock album of all time. Way to go!

Although unheard from for a couple years now, the Tragically Hip are/were one of the biggest bands in Canada, along with the Barenaked Ladies.

Very addicting, and unique - which draws me. Depends what you buy though - they have obviously changed over time.

And the Jeopardy sketch from SNL is hillarious.

"Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antenna To Heaven" is not only the best post-rock album of all time, it's the definitive post-rock album. All other post rock can only wish it was as good as "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antenna To Heaven". But yeah, other post-rock is still cool ;)

 First I have to say.. Beck? C'mon are you serious? :x But I guess music is up to the ear of the beholder..... I like so many bands and musicals and musicians that I don't know where to start after I list the most interesting band of all time..... Drum roll......... :o ....Ladieeeees.........and..........Gentlemen......Live from Los Angeles California..................THE DOORS! :P

Johnny Cash (now that's vocals and heart in music!), Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Fatboy Slim, Eruption, DJ Hixxy, Hive, The Crystal Method, The Chemical Brothers, Mirwais, Daft Punk, Atari Teenage Riot, They Might Be Giants, Moby, The Flaming Lips, Ween, AC/DC (seriously, that's some catchy tunes. ) Led Zeppelin, Ana Voog, NIN, The Julianna Hatfeild Three, Bjork, Portishead, Hole, L7, Aphex Twin, Soul Coughing, Stereolab, Modest Mouse, Takako Minekawa, Buffalo Daughter and Tricky are all the ones, I can totally keep my ears in heavenly harmony.
There's a whole bunch more but they just don't get the high pedestal these bands get.

Okay, sorry about the knock on Beck. But do I really need to be ashamed of such scary stuff? Adios!
