EQMac.com would like to announce the monthly contest for March.

Al'Kabor Battle Royal

When Sat March 27 1:00PM PST

Details: Due to the fact Al'Kabor is undergoing a GM change, I was unable to line up SOE support for this event. While it still may be a possibility, the event will be planned without SOE support.

The Al'Kabor Battle Royal will take place in "The Arena" zone. ( NOTE - this is not the arena located in the bazaar, it is a separate zone, located off Lake Rathetear ) For directions to "The Arena" please visit www.eqatlas.com

The Battle Royal will be broken down into groups, based on your characters level.

Battle #1 = Levels 1-15
Battle #2 = Levels 16-25
Battle #3 = Levels 26-35
Battle #4 = Levels 36-49
Battle #5 = Levels 50+

Contestants should bind in the Arena prior to the battle. There is a soulbinder located inside the zone for your binding pleasure.

Contestants will enter the Battle Arena and WILL NOT engage until the call for "Begin The Battle!" is shouted through the zone by Khaamma.

I have managed to secure both RL prizes and an in game prize for this contest as well. It will be broken down as follows:

The last man standing in each of the battles will receive 100PP in game & the title Battlemaster here at EQMac.com. They will also have the chance to roll for the grand prize.

Grand Prize = 1 copy of You Control software by You Software Inc

The 4 runner ups will also receive a 25th anniversary Apple poster

After the 5 winners are determined, then they will roll for the Grand Prize, using a /ran 799 command. Highest roll wins.

More refined details will be posted the closer we get to the Battle Royal.

*** Addendum - Recieved a call from Eric today, seems the head GM is willing to provide some assistance for the event! Not sure what all they are going to do, however due to the GM hours - the event has been moved to 1PM .... with the first battle happening about 1:30 - 2:00. Thanks SOE!

Now I just gotta decide to try to get lvl 49 by March 27 or to only get 3 levels this month... O well, I probably wouldn't win anyways... Bards will win anyways, they can just run everywhere...

How much time will there be between battles, and are players allowed to enter a character for each level range?

Gonna take this in reverse .......

As I do not know everyones name on the server, or their Alts, I will not be able to prohibit people from entering multiple characters, one for each of the battles. So yes, you will be able to enter a character into each of the battles for the different level ranges.

Time between battles: This is difficult to quantify .....

IF I can get SOE support and a GM to help with the Battle Royal, then we can have the players summoned to the zone for the battle.

Otherwise I will have to wait for contestants to arrive.

I will lay down a time schedule before the actual event, anticipating about 30 mins between fights without GM support.

So basicly all of one level range will be set into the ring and the last man standing is the winner? If so might I suggest that the battle be limited to the stone platform inside the arena and that the dirt area around it be off limits. This would put people on a more even footing as this is a more limited fighting area. Other wise if the whole arena is the allowed battlefield the fights could last forever... You'll have the SOW classes and Bards kiting each other. This would also allow for spectators to sit around the stone platform in the middle of the arena and watch while also creating a "wall" in which the combatants can't go past without being disqualified.

Might I also suggest a SMALL entry fee rated by level. This entry fee could then be added to the pot to create a very nice sized Plat Pot.

Seen a lot of clerics win as well. Being able to DA and heal oneself is tremendously powerful. Nukes have long range as well as dispell magic.

I've seen rangers win. Couple of well times snares and popping Trueshot off at the end will decimate most players.

I've seen SK's win often as well. That HarmTouch is something to fear.

Bards just annoy me in PvP. Pesky in fact, like a fly.

Too bad I can't get a quick server transfer to participate.

crap im stuck between being one of the lowest in my division or being the highest and not lvling at all for the next couple of weeks....

Hi, I'm new and have no idea how to battle, or would even dream of battling anybody. I just want to come watch, is there a chance I might get hit by some powerful magic spell and die on the spot?

You should look at what lvl's each class gets there new skills. Beastlord gets it at 15. druid 14 wiz mafe necro and chanter 12. pally sk 14. SK may do well too.

It's not what you do on the forums that matters, it's who you piss off in game.

If you want to come watch, you will be ok ...... since you are lvl 6, even if a spell were to hit you and die, you wouldnt need to corpse run anyway.

Besides, you are only PVP enabled if you walk INTO the center of the arena zone. You can always stay on the outside and not worry about being hit.
