Does anyone know of a resource for AA guides circa PoP, specifically for Beastlord if possible? Everything I've found is updated to include the superfluous 30 levels and associated AAs from the PC side.

Thanks,
Twixt, Beastlord <Dark Conquest>

what are some of the guides you are looking at.

You can try plugging in the URL's for them into the internet archive say circa 2002 or 2003 and see what pops up there.

I'd imagine a guide on which talents to get first. Most people say Run Speed and regen for the first 6 points. Then you can go mental clarity and if you tank some go for the defensive skills, say 6 MC then 2 in each evasion, mitigation, and extra hit points. After that it gets more class specific.

Twixt,

Do you box or do you play solo?

As a BL my first goal was Run3, then SCR3 then Paragon. I got all of those at 62 then went to 65. I added a cleric to my mix shortly after hitting 65 and went for a lot of the tanking AA purely based on the fact that my BL would be the tank in my setup - so thats CA3, ND3 and CS3. I never really noticed much of a difference with CS3, but I also run something like 1.5k AC when buffed (with a softcap somewhere in the 1200-1300 range).

Honestly theres very few bad choices as a BL and speaking from the perspective that Reksar has 220+ AA now I can say that I don't regret SCR3 and Paragon as my first goal, buffing less often and that extra tick of Paragon is nice. CA3 seemed to give the biggest bang for the buck and DPS wise clearly the double attack AA (I think BF) was the best reward there.

Of all the AA I've neglected getting MC (I have SD and VoQ and Paragon to cover mana for the most part). However, depending on if you have access to a chanter or druid or load up on FT gear (not much for us BL), MC is probably another good choice.

All in all I'd recommend:

Run3, SCR3, Paragon, CA/ND3, MC and BF

Those are probably going to be the best investments of AA in the early going. Later on just add whatever you want because most of its negligible re: difference makers.

I played a beast for a long time PC side, almost in this era.

Anyway - the double attack AA - get it just as soon as possible. If you do any amount of fighting by your critter at all, this will add the most to your dps. And the faster the things die, the better. Beastial Fury, I think? I'm pretty sure that this is a rare example of an AA you can get before run or regen even.

Paragon was lovely. Well worth getting.

I mostly soloed, so I concentrated on things that would reduce my downtime. Even so, Pet Hold is vastly more useful than you will think based on its description. I really wish I had gotten it sooner.
