When we say old macs what are we talking about? I bought a new macbook pro in late 2009 or early 2010. Any thoughts as to whether that would still work?

I believe Apple announced the move tin Intel in 2005, and stopped making them around August 2006? Also, if yout OS version is 10.6 or newer, you are good, as only 10.5.x and older would work on the PPC.

For the technologically illiterate, do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1531

Thanks Cadsuane. I feel relieved now.

I would have loved to have a PPC client upgraded, but if that is the cost to keep the lights on for Al'Kabor, then I can find a way around that too. I do have a 1.83 core duo mini that I can use for one of my accounts, now I just need to find a few more intel macs so I can 3 box. I just find it funny that even that old mini is still going for over 300 on ebay when it was like 450 new.

Or any lag!

There is still mouse lag. It's just much less pronounced.

Go play EQPC in windowed mode and you'll see how it uses the system mouse. That's the gold standard.

Compared to PC side?

The mouse on Mac can be sped up with /mouse 3(?) I believe. But it doesn't really 'fix' the problem. The mouse still slows down a ton when overtop of windows etc. That's probably the lag he's talking about.
