I always pictured him with a beret, maybe a turtleneck, a thin mustache, and a croissant. In my mind he would be cursing non-stop at some random thing. :lol:

It is a bug, an exploit, and should be fixed.

Hi guys.
<snip>
I am absolutely sure alot of the people who play chanters (more so than any of the other "paccing" classes) on our server chose to play that class heavily influenced by the fact they infact CAN perma pac, and therefor do and kill stuff others cannot.
<snip>

That may be true, but I didn't know about PP until sis told me about it. My EQ mains have always been Enchantresses.
I could care less about PP personally, though I do admit it does make my life easier now that I know about it.

I'd like to refocus on the very important point that the OP made that some folks seem not to grasp at all. In the end, what matters is sustaining a viable population of active players, which includes not only existing players (some of whom necessarily leave as life circumstances or preferences change), but in enticing new players to join and commit in order to maintain that viable pop. Because if that does not happen, Al Kabor will - at some point - wither and die. In essence, like all of life, the universe and everything, this is a struggle against the trend toward max entropy, which is always active.

So the folks who are shrieking about 'fairness' might wanna move up a couple of levels and take a look at the macro picture. It does little good to make things all even-steven (in the eyes of some) if that winds up putting downward pressure on population or activity, which can result in a downward spiral. The point is this: seems to me that the first criteria that should be considered is what kind of pressure (if any) a proposed change would put on an active and vital server population. After all, who would wanna play on the fairest, most balanced server if they were all alone on it?

I agree with you philosophically Ozz, but keep in mind we're a lot more resilient a server than anyone has ever given us credit for historically. Lots have predicted the withering demise of Al`Kabor "soon" sometime in the past several years and failed at their predictions. I think even I've been guilty of that :)

Yogi needs a Ranger. Named Smith. And a Booboo too!

And in the immortal words of another Yogi: "You can observe a lot just by watching."

Could that resiliency and player resolve be possibly tied in some way to the deliciously fun benefits we (unintentionally) have on this server? I can't think that ridding perma pac would do much to benefit this feeling of "we're the minority but cool bc we love this game"

I personally couldn't care less on this issue. I have no life. I'd willingly pac my way through a dungeon the ole timey way. That said, there's no doubt in my mind that we'd stand to lose a portion of our playerbase, were this change to be implemented. And to further contradict my earlier sentence, that is precisely why i DO care about this issue. Let's preserve the peace and keep as many pulses beating on this server as possible please.

Quick question on this. Does any of the lull/pacify line work this way or is it just pacification?

Astill -- enchanter, cleric, bard, druid and ranger versions all work. I think that means roughly half the people who play on the server have the ability to perma-pac (given the number of us who either have a main or a box of one of these classes).

LOL. I love all the labels being applied to demonise people calmly speaking up against this bug. With the exception of Locnar and Utdaan - who always post with attitude - it's the pro-paccers who are overly vehement about the issue if anyone is.

Add necro, SK and paladin to the list. Pallies can lull anything under level 55, and necro/SK can do undead stuff. The undead lulls cap at 45, I believe.
