I bought myself a MBP for Christmas and will be starting a character on Al'Kabor in about a week or two. If you decide to take the plunge and join, look me up Velarius. I wouldn't mind a leveling partner.

Oh man ... - It is getting harder and harder and more difficult to resist ...

However, IF I am going to start again, I will probably be making a Shaman (main) and Warrior (box) (and possibly a third box aswell, Cleric) this time around ... but that is a HUGE IF ...

I was strongly considering 2-boxing and I suppose I still am but I don't like large laptops so I went with the 13" MBP. I don't know how it would handle 2-boxing and I've never done it without dual monitors so I'm inclined to just say no. Depending on how the laptop handles the load and my choice of a main I may still give it a shot.

Why resist? Hail and well met, Velarus! And welcome to Al`Kabor. The Shammy/Warrior duo is a nice one for sure!

Q: Do real barbarians eat quiche?
A: Real barbarians would hack and slay anyone who offered them quiche to eat, and would then stomp the quiche until it was totally flat. Barbarians are like that.

The new Intel client can handle 2 characters really well on a new MBP. I have an older one and it runs just fine.

Oh yeah, and GO FLYERS!

I run an older MPB dual core 2.0 with 3 gigs of RAM.

After they pushed the new client, I can run 4 characters at about 25-30 FPS with full graphics. If I try running a fifth, the FPS go down to 5-10.

Before the new client, I could only run 3 at 10-15 FPS with graphics at bare minimum and had to use an external USB powered laptop cooler, a program to maximize CPU fan speed, and keep my ambient temperature in my house at about 68 or I would overheat.

I have had no overheating problems with new client.

PS - I put all EQ clients on the same monitor and switch with spaces. My second one is just to stream hulu and read allakabor (safari is pinned to all spaces).

Lol that's dedication. Maybe I'll give the 2-box a go then. I can be like Barf from Spaceballs--my own best friend!

Mild schizophrenia is a natural side effect of boxing. Don't try to fight it and just enjoy it for what it is.

The MBP that I bought will be my first foray into the Mac world. I just wanted a laptop but frankly the stuff PC manufacturers are pushing right now is such garbage as far as materials and construction that it was hardly a choice. I am shocked that the vast majority of laptops are still made out of thin glossy plastic.

Soon I'll be wearing winter hats in the summer and have a "usual" at my local Starbucks...

Once you start boxing ... - You will NEVER go back to playing just a single toon ...

Everything aside ... Boxing is FUN and it also helps alot (atleast it did for me) in keeping the game interesting, because of your options. Later having a box will also benefit whichever guild you end up in (atleast that is my own personal experience) ...

The only "downside" to boxing is gear (when you come towards "The End Game Content"), but that is an entirely other discussion ... >.<

It sorta depends on the guild's stance on alt / box loot... My boxes are fairly well geared through VT loot but DC allows boxes to earn points as well as mains because we rely so heavily on them. This would be especially so for healers as many of us end up boxing a cleric out of necessity. I can only think of one person who's main is actually a Cleric (Miuma). Funny thing is my cleric has more AHR loot (1) versus my main (0).

I do agree once I started boxing I almost never went back as a BL + Clr duo pretty much sets me up for 95% of all grouping for AA's between V's, slows, hastes, sows, tankiness (7.2k hp buffed now!), pulling and a good bit of dps. I just add whoever and let the xp roll. Shoot, I even rock a solid 50ish DS on my BL between cleric reverse DS and my clickies. Adding in the druid to my trio will bump that DS even higher (where does the DS cap btw?)

Yes. I got started back in the days with Lindros, LeClaire, Brind'Amour, etc. I don't get to watch much hockey these days, but I still root for them when I can. I did manage to watch all the games against Chicago a couple years ago.
