I will be working on a version for my own use, but as I have a widescreen monitor it will probably not be suitable for general release. There are space constraints which I have been trying to stick to which make the UI look a little cramped on a wide screen. I will probably also make numerous tweaks to the textures which will make it difficult to merge in with the 1.01 release. Once I am happy with it, I will showcase it of course, but with the amount of time I have had to spend on the UI so far, I am looking forward to a rest.

I think that rest is well deserved Mak. You did a great job with everything here. Kudos!

Wow Mak really impressed with your work on this UI. Loaded it up last night and shocked on how much difference it has made. Well done mate, you've put a lot of work into it and made a big difference to a lot of players.

Previously i was using Kyth UI and have grown fond of a couple of features. See below.

The extra large hp / mana bars are very helpful - as i'm on a big screen and they stand out a lot more - the originals just dont stand enough for me. Also having my spell gems with the text written next to them is also very helpful.

So am i able to just grab the correct files from the Kyth UI and replace them into my Powerof2 UI? Will this cause any problems?

You can, but since they do not follow the "power of two" rule you will loose some of the efficiency gained.

Your best bet would be to check out Wizman or My customizations of poweroftwo and incorporate elements from them as they follow the conventions Maktub established for this UI set.

How much effiency am i likely to lose? Is the spell gems window, target window, HP/Mana window and group window likely to slow things down much?

I checked out your UI's and they dont have what i need.

You're likely to have a good bit more difficulty mixing in non-Po2 based elements than you think. For one, most of the graphics files are named differently, and elements referenced in generally standard files (EQUI_Animations.xml comes to mind) will cause you some headaches. If you single out the graphics files you need for those windows, you've still got issues with texture naming, and then you're adding textures (slows things down) and working with graphic elements that don't follow the Po2 sizing rule (slows things down).

I've fiddled around with the KythUI quite a bit. What you want can be done, but it's no small task.

Thanks for the comments, Digga.

The spells list with names is easy to deal with - you are not the first person to ask for that feature so I think it would be a good window to update and offer a new optional download for. Leave that one with me for a day or so.

The horizontal buff bar with names under is a real headache to handle and would be hard to integrate into the standard release of the UI. What happens is that window completely ignores the x,y coordinates in the XML and merely fits the buff icons into the smallest available space anchored in the top right. The reason they work in your UI there is that the icons are 40px wide (with a 1px gap between each) so the writing is just small enough to fit in the space underneath. Going down to 32px icons does not leave enough space for writing under a horizontal bar - I tried it. The only way to control the spacing is to increase the size of the BlueIconBackground and RedIconBackground textures to 64px and have transparent areas 16px on each side then use the DecalOffset feature to get the spell icons centered... but that texture is shared with the spell book so you would have to repeat spacing changes there too. The buff bar would then be twice as wide as it is at the moment but have plenty of room for text. As I said - too much of a headache to do for an optional public release. Your best bet is to rearrange your screen layout to fit in the vertical buff bar with names.

As for the bars, they are 8px high at the moment but I copied the default ui bars and they are shaded heavily on the top and bottom edges - not the most visible I agree. It is not hard to change the graphics to offer more visible bars, for example the ones in the Lodi Dodi UI are simple rectangles. As long as we keep the 4px end-caps, it would be possible to do a high-vis bar modification very simply.

If you are using a widescreen monitor, I have an alternative suggestion... I play at 1920x1200 and am working on a more visible and relaxed fit for my own personal use and have reworked the gauges to fit with the SARS4MAC UI texture. This gauge is a lot more visible but is fatter and the end caps are wider so these changes are ONLY suitable for a widescreen monitor. Here is a sample pic and if you are prepared to wait a week or so, it will be available as a general release "as seen"... please bear in mind this is still a work in progress - I have not yet put the stats down the centre of the hotbutton window and the image is too dark when saved but it will give you the idea. This is a photoshop prototype as you can see from the duplicated bars in the group window.

Remember it is not just the screen size, but the resolution too... a huge 100" plasma screen running at only 720p will have big fat blobby pixels.

Now, as promised, here are the updated spells window (148px wide to match the buff bar) and a selection of gauges with the hi-vis textures to keep you going till I put out my widescreen release in a few weeks...

If you want a right-handed version of the Cast Spells window, change the X coordinate of the spell icons to 106, change the X coordinate of the spell names to 2 and add the following line to the code for each spell name...

Code:
       <AlignRight>true</AlignRight>

They can be viewed on the usual site then grabbed as an Optional Files download at the bottom of the Download page.

Hail all...

When trying to load this UI in-game, my computer freezes and I get booted to the desktop, so I'm here reporting the problem :)

I'm running a Macbook Pro 15" with OS X Version 10.5.8

BUG FIX - a bug in the full-size Buff Window with buff names has been found and squashed. Buff15 was appearing next to Buff01. I needed to make the window a tiny bit longer so it didn't wrap.

You can either download v1.02 which now incorporates the fix and all optional downloads or make a simple change to the following file...

NOTE : you only need to make this edit if you are using the optional version of the buff window with the buff names.

1. Open EQUI_BuffWindow.xml in TEXTEDIT or DASHCODE

2. Search for the following line...
Code:
         <CY>502</CY>

3. Replace it with...
Code:
         <CY>504</CY>
