... EQInterface insist on .SIT or .SEA format for compressed files.

I have Snow Leopard which, by default, makes .ZIP compressed files. Although I have Stuffit Expander, this does not allow me to *make* a .SIT archive.

Can any of you recommend a Snow Leopard compatible tool which is free and will make a .SIT archive out of a folder or tell me how to persuade SL to do it for me.

Thanks.

Does that help?

Thanks for the link. I have decided to buy the standard version of Stuffit 2010 Mac for 29.99 plus tax, so I should be able to upload the files to EQInterface shortly in .SITX format.

Gah! EQInterface doesn't accept files in .SITX - they want .SIT which hasn't been used much since 2002. Does anyone know how to force Stuffit to output a file in .SIT as I can't seem to find the option?

I don't know how but this process seems to be a bit harder than it should. I've only uploaded from the PC side so don't know anything about uploading on Mac.

Drop Stuff, part of Stuffit, can be changed to create .sit files by default, but only in the newest version. Alternatively, you can right click on the file and navigate to the contextual menu item for Stuffit and select .sit from there.

Why even bother with eqinterface.com, just get a free account at dropbox.com, upload a zip to your public folder and post a link here...

I can't find this option - I have the newest version of the standard Stuffit 2010 (not deluxe). About half the files in the EQMac section of EQInterface are .SITX however so I reckon they have just removed the file type from the permitted list since there have been no EQMac uploads since 2006.

Because EQInterface is the central resource for things like this. Folks have heard about it. It was the first place I went to when I wanted to see what UIs were available for EQMac. If I change hosts or stop playing in EQ in the dim and distant future, Sars4mac would vanish if it was on my own web space.

If EQInterface give me the runaround however, I will just host it myself and attempt to get a refund from Stuffit. Users of older Macs will have to work with a .ZIP archive then.

Simple Solution: Rename "MyUI.zip" to MyUI.sit and upload it.
Make a comment that the person who download this have to rename it before proper unpacking.

That said, screw eqinterface. Just upload it somewhere and give the link here. Every EQ Mac player will much more likely find it here than over at eqinterface anyway.

Edit: Would that not fit into the Al'Kabor Wiki? Do they have an upload funktion there?

That's the first place I went to also and I agree it needs to be somewhere where the website stays up. Look at how many links in this forum are already no good and some of those UI's would have been good to have available.

While I'm not sure if EQMAC wiki would be around longer than eqinterface, that seems like a good place to also upload interfaces to. If not a current option maybe it will be an option soon.
