The difference Zorblak is that tactics and planning can negate almost every effect IV throws at us relegating his damage output to far below Tormax's. Very easily a heal can be missed or a mistake made and can be overcome on IV making the encounter far easier than Tormax.

Straight melee mobs are usually the first attempted because they require less of a strategy but they also introduce new issues. The term "One Rounded" was coined to explain what can happen in these encounters. In essence it means the MoB can do more damage in one round than the tank can Mitigate or absorb.

In the case of Tormax AL'Kabor has only 2 players capable of not being One Rounded . In the case of AOW our server only really has one and that is marginal.

...additionally, TIV being permarooted largely eliminates problems that can occur in a Tormax fight such as MT moving out of heal range while positioning, or RT missing tag on inc and rampage eating through the raid...

Zorblak can MT next time we do Kael, after all it's just melee ;)

Yes, Luclin fights require strategy, where Velious fights are mostly based only on a clean pull and then pure damage output versus pure healing power.

Knowing and properly executing the strategy for a Luclin fight makes it about a tier easier than it is listed (excluding emperor and Seru who are just freaking bad ass). Not knowing the strategy gives you about a 90% chance of a TPW. Messing up the strategy, but knowing it and being able to recover, means you might or might not wipe.

Well, we all know I'm perfectly capable of getting aggro on those mobs. ;) Just let me get my AC into three digits and my HP into four, and I'll be up for the task.

Nice thing about Luclin fights are that you can debuff most of them first. Other than that, it's like Cadsuane said, there's more factors that can contribute to a success and more ways you can screw the whole thing up. Velious is mostly CH chain uber alles, while Luclin is more interactive for the non-MTs and healers. AL has huge dps, I'm not sure if it's more or less than AoW considering he rampages nearly every round so you need two solid tanks, but also there's a lot of strategy involved with it. Just getting to AL isn't trivial for us. AL is a huge leap from the hardest mobs we've fought with the exception of AoW and a very dramatic new kill for us.

Psst -- Zatrik -- don't tell anyone but, ummm, *shuffles feet* I'm sorta starting to like Ssra. But if anyone found out, I'd never hear the end of it. So keep it to yourself ok?

As cad said, Lodi soloed with enough AA's and good gear, though it's much preffered you get a cleric. Bst/Druid duos are popular on the PC server as far as I remember

Any class that can slow or charm can solo Lodi. Though some can solo more easily than others...

Just as an update:

SoN has done all the Tier 1 mobs except Trakanon and has killed RaghZ in Tier 2.

So page 1 should be updated to leave out Trak, is that correct?

Got banshed the fist time right after engagement and when I was call of heroed back he was under 50% already. Then Trak ran from us and once at 2% he gated... then I got summoned solo and banished away so it was out of my hands. We still need to take him down officially but it is only a matter of time... How those last few nukes didn't take him down I will never know. The chain of events was so insanely ridiculous I don't even want to think about the odds of him pulling that off again given the firepower we had there.
