data fork error WAS back. gone now. and the white box and app not responding.

In my case, I got the data fork error, and then tried to quit. When I hit command-Q, I got a message that there was a download in progress. I waited a bit, tried to quit again, and still got the message. I went ahead and quit. When I restarted LP, I didn't get an update message, just straight to Play. White window, app not responding now.

Hobart,

The latest patch downloaded *almost* all the Miles flat files and tried to build them into the dual-fork versions. However, Miles3DSoftware.m3d.rsrc seems to have been downloaded without the corresponding .data file. The patcher managed to construct the dual-fork version of the Miles Carbon Library, but apparently croaked doing the next file in MacPatch.xml -- the Miles3DSoftware.m3d file. For some reason the patcher reports a missing resource fork, rather than correctly reporting a missing data fork file.

Duh. No, it correctly reports a missing data fork. Misread the error somehow....

And this beachball of doom?? Are you referring to when the EQ icon bounces in the system tray?

The beachball of doom reminds me of this bit of V. I. Nabokov's Pnin:

"...ends up in a kind of soundlessly spinning ethereal void as we all must"

And if you cancel the update, and then restart the LP, it happily starts up the main app, *without* valid Miles libraries present. Fortunately, it apparently still is hanging on the login server before it tried to call the missing libraries....

Yep, fixing the data fork issue. My bad, I missed a file when reverting.

the beachball is what the mouse icon changes into when the computer is "thinking" or in some cases when it's stuck

The white box is the upper left hand corner- normally there's a black box there but it's white for some reason

Here is the "white box", it is normally a black box just before the main app takes over control for the screen. Since the beach ball is your cursor I am not sure how to grab a snapshot of that.
