As of 8:38pm ET, I tried logging in, and got a new EQ app (and the .data and .rsrc files it comes from) with a timestamp of 12:01 today (ET).

However, it does the same thing as before -- I get the protowindow in the upper left corner (now white instead of the usual black we had before) and the app just hangs there. No sockets are open to EQland, as far as I can tell, though if it's doing UDP, I suppose they might not be open when I look.

When I retropatched earlier this afternoon, the old version (pre-today) of the app gave a "server congested" message, instead. It looks like the new version of the app may not be robust against whatever's happening at the server end right now, maybe it will get better if the server is opened up...?

I too tried to log a few times. Twice I got the update now message instead of the play button. So i updated and pressed play. now every time i try to log on I get the little itty bitty white rectangle on the top left hand corner of the screen . . . . .

and then nada..

I've had to force quit each time *sigh* I wantie my EQ.

Btw whats the deal with this patch thing I've been reading? Is there some sort of patch you have to download or something??

If someone is able to log on let us know!! pls?

Ok, reverting changes. For sure you'll still get the Item and Spell updates. But if reverting the patcher changes related to the Miles library doesn't fix the login issues, then I'll need to revert the crash fixes also. =(

The EQ launchpad downloads and installs the patch automatically as part of the update process.

Some people seem to be getting a "server congested" message after the patch, and some are getting what I get -- a small white window in the upper left corner, and a hung application. I'm wondering about NAT/firewall problems with the new version...

Q: Is there anyone who's getting a "server congested" after the patch who is behind a NAT or firewall?

I've got an Airport on my cable modem, running in NAT mode on the local side, where I have all my machines, and I'm getting the hang (I only got a server congested message with the pre-patch version hand-patched back while the launchpad was running).

As of this moment, I downloaded a new patch after log in. hit the play button and got the Spinning beachball for a minute when then Disappeared. There is that little whitebox up in the left hand corner. When I right click on the EQ icon, I get the Application not responding message.

Baer :)

No luck signing on yet. Still the beach ball spinning and the little white square after hitting play.

OK, I ran tcpdump on the latest patched EQ app, and it's actually swapping short (len 10) UDP packets with eqlogin4.everquest.com, so it's not just hung, it's waiting on something, it looks like.

Strangely, when I killed the app, I suddenly saw a short (len 8) UDP packet from sdlaunchpad2.station.sony.com to a locally-assigned port on my machine, which (unsurprisingly) elicited a "port unreachable" ICMP in reply. A similar one arrived a moment later from eqlogin4 to the port that had been talking to it, also getting the ICMP "port unreachable". But as far as I can tell, sdlaunchpad had stopped talking to my machine once the main app had launched....

I think I'll just wait until I see another Hobart post. This might be a long night for him.

Going to unlock the server shortly since I think it being locked is really causing issues for LaunchPad.

Baby steps

Thanks Hobart, effort even if unfruitful is better than no effort at all in my opinion. I think youre wonderful for trying.

As of 10pm est, im still locked out for those trying to log in. Same thing as everyone else, white window in upper left corner.
