I can log into game run around and do whatever like normal but as "soon" as I close the game off for the day or take a break... I can no longer log in. Unless I remove the entire game and then reinstall it completely.

I have MacBook OS X Leopard version 10.5.8
Processor 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

I am pretty sure I have Rosetta on my MacBook .. I can not find anything to indicate it is running though on my computer, but my husband and I had read online that on OS X Leopard it is automatically installed during installation.

OS X Snow Leopard I have read you have to actually "choose" to have Rosetta installed.

Is my problem in Rosetta or am I in need of an older Mac that uses PPC instead of an Intel processor. I have been trying to find some sort of information leading to help me out one way or another with no luck. If you have any ideas on what maybe needed to play please let me know.

Thanks ahead of time with any kind of reply =D

What do you mean when you say you cannot log in anymore?

Does the LP launch but you cant connect or does the LP fail entirely?

I use to have a problem where once i logged out, if i logged back in i would simply get the beach ball effect up. The only way i could fix it was to reset my router. The problem resolved itself though after about a month, i never found out what was causing the problem.

Oops I am sorry about not being clear about that  . Ok I can log in right after I download a fresh client but like I said above once I log off for the day or time being. I will encounter this problem with the LP. I put my login information and instead of logging in to the character select screen it just goes right back to my desktop. The EQ logo on my dock says "application not responding". Like I said sorry about not being clearer on the above post :D . Thanks again for any help that you guys give.

When this happens, try 2 things (at different times).

1) Restart your internet router. Just switch it off, and back on. Or take the computer to a different internet connection, and try there.

2) Restart the computer.

While neither are fixes, they both serve to narrow the scope of the problem. Kindly respond if either of them make a bit of difference (or make no difference for that matter).

If you are running EQ, you have Rosetta. So thats not the issue. :)

I have tried both restarting the computer and unplugging the router... =/To only get the same results... sadly.

That big cross out on the EverQuestLP has been a concern. (Look at the picture on the first post)

I think it has something to do with EQ being classic environment and I have read many places online that Leopard doesn't support classic environment. Which is why there is that big cross out on the screenshot.

Is anyone else on Leopard? Just curious if they are getting the same thing in the EverQuest LP?

I went Macintosh HD > applications > EverQuest LP (Folder) > (Right click) EverQuest LP client > Go to "Show Package Contents" > (Double Click) Contents Folder > (Double Click) Mac OS > then here is where it will show if the EverQuest LP is marked out or not... I am just curious if this is just me seeing this or not. Since all of my other applications work fine and when checked in this manner there is no cross out like there is with the EverQuest LP.

I have tried running EQ under Mac OS 9 (SheepShaver) and it didn't recognize it either, though I think that OS was to early for EQ's time. I had to try sense it says both Application (PowerPC) on the normal EQ logo and if I "command i" the one that is marked out it says "Application (Classic)". I have got Rosetta or least I think I do... how does one go about making sure Rosetta is installed?

It is completely normal to show the package contents crossed out. Rosetta is part and parcel of Leopard - it only became an option in Snow Leopard. If Rosetta was absent you would NEVER be able to run EQ unless you're on a PPC Mac.

It sounds like you have a port issue of some kind. Do you have the Leopard firewall turned on by any chance? (Apple Menu>System Preferences>Security>Firewall). It should be set to "Allow all incoming connections". Or, do you have Little Snitch installed? It could be a rule problem with that. If it's neither of those things then you likely have a router issue. Try bypassing the router and hook up directly to your modem and see if you can reproduce the problem that way.

I looked up my fire wall settings... it was set to "Allow all coming connections." So that wasn't the issue...

I do not have little Snitch installed so that isn't it...

I re-downloaded EQ tonight and tried what you said to try. Was able to log in like before off of the "fresh" download, but as soon as I log off and try to connect again I got the same problem (see pictures below). I also used my husbands ethernet cord instead of connecting wirelessly thinking that it could some how be related to that but still no luck =/

Log out and relaunch EQLP

Have to force Quit and then get this error

Its puzzling. What we are looking for are clues. Something that changes the results in some way, no matter how minor.

It sounds so much like a port issue, but the stuff tried so far seems to have excluded that. So, here are three other things to try.

1) After you get it setup to try and log in again (a fresh download), then create a copy of that fresh install. Now, when you have logged in and out, and would normally have to do an install again, try launching this fresh copy. See what happens with it.

2) Do you have an antivirus enabled? If so, disable it.

3) Create a new user profile, totally unmodified, and try EQ in it.

You do have sound disabled, right? If not, disable it. Sound in EQmac is seriously bugged, and you really need to play without it.

I run EQ in Snow Leopard, just as an FYI.

I'm not sure why you have it (the EverquestLP icon) where you have the folder but leave it on your desktop where you uncompress it originally and start it up. Don't move anything or change anything just start it up and download the new files. Log in to Everquest change zones... log out and then attempt to get back in. I Use Leopard so that isn't the problem.

This looks like the issue I was having. I found deleting my eqclient.ini file would allow me to get back in. Once I disabled music in the game (Setting the music volume to 0) it stopped getting corrupted.

Sorry for Double posting but I figured this be good spot sense I had a problem once here... might as well ask another one under my post so I am not making new threads of different and random problems I have haha!

Anyway every time I go to play EverQuest I got to delete the eqclient.ini is there away that I will not have to do this?

I would like to turn on Velious graphics and all but it is a lot to do to go through there every time I go to play and turn them on sense it isn't default... I got to set up my key bindings every time as well... I am keeping them simple but would like to play with different keys than most of the default ones.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Almost forgot I am running on Intel OS X Leopard... husband who is under PPC OS X Tiger is running it without any flaws. I have talked to someone who said they were running EQ under Leopard and are not having any problems at all and here I am having to delete the eqclient.ini every time =/

Thanks again!

i changed 16 to 32bit in the eqclient.ini and i was able to run EQ on leopard just fine.

In my case It was I couldn't even get the game to get past the EQlp screen after I hit Play. That was right after downloading the game.

Btw I'm just taking a wild guess, but you may want to install xCode Download Here regular xCode don't need the iphone support.

It still isn't working even though I changed that number...

I still have to delete the eqclient.ini to get in =/

Did you need me to post the entire eqclient.ini document so you can see it and see if anything else might be messing up?
