Character transfers are back! Here's the pertinent details
  1. They cost $25 per character moved. In my case, they billed the CC I had on file, once I verified the last 4 digits and expiration date.
  2. They take around 3-5 days.
  3. SOE CS is still full of morons. My transfer was delayed by a CSR who thought that you need to "flag" accounts for EQMac (you don't anymore). Then, another moron told me that the only way to flag an account was through the LP3/download process, and made me d/l the 2GB game file again before he'd admit he had NFI what he was talking about.

So, here's some tips that I'd recommend to smooth the process. First and foremost, gather the following information before you start the process. Since they're going to present you a form to fill out, it's better to have all the required data already. It appears to be an old template, since it requests CC info for the destination account (even though we're F2P now), and it is a bit redundant as well, but it's what I was asked to fill out, so I'm including it. Here are its contents:

- Transferring To a Different Account?:
- Destination Station Name?:


Next, before you start the process, create the destination accounts you want the transferred toons to land on, log them into EQMac, and put a dummy toon on them. This will dismiss the "flagging" issue when you politely inform them that Station accounts no longer need to be flagged for EQMac, and to prove it, point out that your destination account already has a toon on EQMac on it, and they can feel free to check it out themselves.

Now that we've done the prepwork, let's start the process by:

  1. Head to http://www.soe.com
  2. Click on the "Login" tab, and enter the station ID and PW for the account from which you want to transfer the accounts
  3. Click "Support"
  4. Click "View your service history"
  5. Pick how you'd like to start the process, either via chat or by opening a support ticket. Since using chat opens a support ticket too, I prefer that option, since it gets the ball rolling ASAP.
  6. Product = EQMac, Category = Account/Billing --> Character Move Service
  7. Say "OMG HI, I WANTS TO MOVE TOONS! HRALP PLOX!" and see how that goes for you... ;) Here's what I wrote:

At $25 a pop to do what is probably 5 mins of work with automated scripts by max $15/hr call center customer service reps... nah.

For those of you who can't afford the transfers i would be more than will to hold up a corner store and pay for your character to be moved to my secret account so that I can do my best Faite impression. Looking for a better bard than my right now especially...if you have full singing steel, he is already better

TSR Sean F said no.. twice (2 different chats, what are the odds of me getting the same dude twice!). Even after checking with the "transfer team".

Also said that transfers had been suspended for "some time". Trying again tomorrow!

A guildie of mine also had trouble with Sean F. And yet another guildie was (apparently) successful with some other rep. tonight.

It seems to be just a crapshoot right now, and very dependant on what CSR you get. I got lucky last Friday and had 2 transfers ( 1 character each from 2 of my existing accounts to 2 new accounts) completed in less than four hours. The rep I got on the second transfer wasn't quite as savvy as the first one I got but after I told him that my target account WAS Al Kabor already, and gave him the name of the toon I had on it, and he checked with someone else twice, he finally sent it through. I'm really glad I decided to take a vacation day from work last Friday and get this done as soon as Illicit told us about it.

Ick, I hope the honeymoon's not over too! Although I'm happy I finally got my toons transferred, I was under the impression that everyone could take advantage of it.

I wonder if posting a case number (of a successful transfer) help people, or somehow potentially compromise personal info?

Case numbers are for SOE internal use, by providing one, you shouldn't risk potential personal information leakage. 10 days in to my ticket and nothing :(
