Finally got the new MacBook Pro 15" Retina I've been wanting. I'm having a few issues that I was hoping you guys could help me with.

To begin with, I am set up in windowed mode, and I've enabled multi-boxing using the instructions found in this forum, so I should be good to go there.

(1) Switching in and out of the EQ app (via Cmd-Tab) is behaving strangely. Tabbing out works, but EQ won't come to the foreground when I attempt to tab back in. Instead, I have to minimize/hide other windows to get to it, then use Cmd-Tab again to enable the mouse in the EQ window.

(2) This makes two-boxing impossible. EQ windows themselves can't be minimized/hidden or moved, so if one's open on top of the other, there's no way to get to the one underneath (as stated above, tabbing into EQ doesn't bring it to the top).

(3) Also, the Gamma is too low and the slider doesn't work. Adjusting the desktop brightness just makes the rest of my screen blinding :D. This laptop has both the integrated Intel HD graphics and an NVidia chip. Maybe if I could tell it to run EQ under the NVidia, I could use some NVidia calibration tool? I don't know how to do either of those things, though, being new to Mac...

Any help would be appreciated. I'm hoping these are common issues that you guys have work-arounds for!

Thanks.

This is how windowed mode works for EQ, it's annoying.

I think with multi-boxing on Lion/Mountain Lion you need to have EQ on its own desktop and pretty much nothing else open on that desktop unless you're just popping open a browser for a few seconds to search something, but if you want anything open long term you may want to put those apps on their own desktop.

This is also just how EQ works in windowed mode, the gamma switches from in-game (full screen) to whatever your system setting is (windowed). For now you'd just have to switch settings back and forth when playing in windowed mode.

The solutions to your numbers 1 and 2 are to put each EQ instance on its own space

1) Launch both EQ sessions
2) Cmd-Tab to your browser window
3) Bring up Mission Control, drag each EQ window to own desktop
4) Switch between desktops by swiping on your trackpad

Your gamma issue, I've never had, though I do see a lot of people complaining about it. Have you ever calibrated your screen through display preferences? It takes you through red/blue/green points and also lets you adjust gamma. Perhaps that's the solution.

Thanks guys. When I posted this, I didn't know what Mission Control was, and I didn't know Mac supports multiple desktops! This is my first Mac in over a decade (my only other one was the Titanium G4 laptop way back in olden times).

Multiple desktops makes multi-boxing a breeze.

I think the dynamic brightness feature of my MacBook might be impacting the gamma issue. A couple of times I've logged on and it's looked fine. So I may just experiment with that.

And now that we have Hobart making updates to the client, maybe some of these things will be improved!
