Just for fun, and not because it's necessarily the best music I ever heard but because it's on the topic of roleplay/fantasy related music, two things I picked up just because:

Love anything with a strong melody line and good harmony, especially thirds. This means Queen, Boston and the Eagles will always get me singing along.

Love Pink Floyd, but only before Roger Waters left. After that, it ain't Floyd anymore, IMHO. Still good, but not Floyd.

Raised on Billy Joel and Meat Loaf. Still love 'em both.

Was a jazz and classical trumpet player, so I've got a fondness for both.

Love my Beastie Boys. Love old school rap and hip hop, too, although I no longer wear my Adidas.

Went through a serious metal phase in junior high and high school, and can probably sing far too many Iron Maiden and Metallica songs than anyone should be able to sing. But, then again, the same goes for Whitesnake, Van Halen and Def Leppard (love Pyromania), so I was clearly into the broad definition of metal.

In short: there isn't much to which I won't listen, and I pretty much love it all.
