I had a weird thing happen to me in Butcherblock tonight.

I had just zoned in from Ocean of Tears, and decided to swim to shore. The nearest shoreline was a grey stone hill, that came gently down to the water. I climbed up it.

Never having been that far north in Butcherblock, I thought I'd look around up there, and went North, looking for the edge of the zone. I found an edge all right ...

I fell right off the mountain, back into the water, and came out under the land. I could see the bases of trees above me. In front I could see where the land must come down to my level, so I swam that way (probably south east).

And fell again, a long way, through greyness. I was then attacked by a gnoll grunt, that I could not see. All I could see was ... grey? black?. I couldn't hit the gnoll.

And then I landed. I got a message that I'd taken 20000 in damage from falling, and been killed under the world. It gave me a loc with an very negative alltitude, and then remarked that I was being sent somewhere safe.

I found myself, nekkid, in the PoK.

Back in Butcherblock, my body was no where to be found. A necro who was nearby helped me by summoning it (Thank you Irrik!).

Bizarre.

I submitted a bug report. And a petition to get a rez (which is why you will see my bod by the PoK stone in Butcherblock. Luckily, though, I did not lose my level, so I am really only out the cost of the coffin (Thank you Mudder for the loan of a coffin)

Hopefully he will comment more on this later, but I know that this has happened to Edword before while were in our early 20's and hunting in the Feild of Bone. We zoned in from the book, and he was waaaay waaaay underneath the feild of bone. He could move around fine, and see the monsters, trees, etc way up above him, but could not move upward at all. . . eventually he ran clear out to the ocean until the ocean got deep enough that he wasn't below it anymore, and just sort of popped through the wall. . . then all he had to do was swim to the surface.

Also, I find it interesting that you were hit by a gnoll pup ? To my knowlegde there aren't any of those in the ButcherBlock zone. . .

How strange. . . .

I've had a similar experience trying to zone from Netherbain to Dawnshroud Peaks. I'm auto-running along happily, hit the zone line, and... keep going. Then run past the wall and out the nonexistent door, falling to my death below the world. Oddly enoough, I found myself back in the middle of the zone, having been transported to 'a safe location' and was able to drag my corpse from the zone line which still wan't working for me.

I just stood near the edge, hit my corpse hotkey, and it automagically appeared. I didn't feel like waiting for the petition to go through for the rez, so I just looted entirely. Figured a GM wasn't likely to be on for a few months  ...

The same thing happened a few days later, but I was fast enough on my response to keep from running off the world the second time. I didn't check any of the other zone lines. Just gated back to the safety of the PoK and curled up in the fetal position for a while. :)

OK gotta share this one .....

Flashback 3 years. Here I am, about my first or second week playing Everquest on the PC server Veeshan. I was in West Commons, about lvl 12- 15 and was killing kodiaks for their skins. When all of a sudden my screen goes almost black. Kind of a dark gray. I think, ok I have been blinded, no big deal. Then it dawns on me that I can see my UI and my chat windows. hrrrrm strange.

So I start moving, thinking I am in some fog or something. but I cant see anything of the zone, just my UI. I start turning and soon I can see the faint outline of a tree in the far distance. I try and move twards it, but nothing. It doesnt seem to get closer.

I start yelling to the zone, if anyone can help me. Somehow I was blind, and needed help with cure blindness or something. Someone yells to me that they can track ( Neat, didnt know you could track ) and he would help me.

After about 5 minutes, I get a tell. The kind soul that was trying to help me said. I dont know what to do, I have see invis on, and I should be right on top of you, but I cant see you. Will you give me your Loc?"

My Loc? What the heck is Loc? So he explains /Loc to me, and I type it into my UI. numbers were something like -1205, 255, -10555

OK for those that dont know, the first number is your X axis, second your Y axis and third is the Z axis or height. I was negative 10,000 below the zone.

The guy then laughed and told me to look up.

HEY, OMG I can see trees and mobs and hey, there you are right above me !

I dont know how or why, but on my way from West Commons, headed tward the Kith Forest zoneline, I fell through the world. I was really freaked out for like 15 minutes, thinking I have been blinded by some Mob. I was able to turn ( With help from the tracker) and face the big pond in West Commons, moved to that, popped through the wall and into the water, swimming to the surface.

I feel for you guys! Been there done that, on the PC servers even.

** On a side note, mobs are usually not effected by the Z axis. As long as they can match the X and Y axis, they will usually be able to hit you. this is why its dangerous to cast AOE spells in multi story dungeons, like TOFS of such. The gnoll was directly above you IN the world and still smacking you Under the world. If you had looked straight up, you MIGHT have been able to hit him or cast on him. No guarantees. **

I myself did not install the "Twlight Zone" expansion pack. So, alas, I have not been able to have these fun experiences. Where does one purchase it, and when was it released for the mac?

Ahhh, makes sense that the attacking mob was above me. I just checked and it turns out that Goblin Grunts are indeed in that corner of Butcherblock (north of the docks).

It is odd that the grunt attacked, though, given that they are level 2-4 (according to Illia's). Critters that level usually studiously ignore me. Except skeletons in Nektulos.

I'm glad to hear I am not alone in this sort of weirdness.

My other really odd experience was from when I crashed on zoning from Erud's Crossing to the Erudin docks on the boat. When I came back a few minutes later, at first I was standing on the dock in Erudin, with no User Interface. It paused like that for about 30 seconds, then the screen went blank again, and I found myself on the boat in Erud's Crossing again. This was awhile back. Finnok was with me, and also crashed to the desktop, but he reappeared in Qeynos.

Actually, your copy did come with the Twilight Zone xpack. But, there are some dead scripts, so you won't be able to see full Twilight Zone functionality anytime soon.

(Ok, I promise I won't lurk on your forum anymore. Promise!)

This has happened to me personally, but I got stuck ABOVE the world. Stupid me for floating over Freeport. However, if you float over the city, you clearly see the ends of it.
We had this happen to a ranger of ours in DC and he petitioned the GM. The offical responce "get a necro to summon you".
So, in light of that anwser, good luck on the rez Yeniu. :)

I remember a corpse recovery in which the body wound up way way above the entrance to Blackburrow in Qeynos Hills. No one could get close enough to drag it (apparantly the z-axis is important with the /corpse command). It took a necro to pull it down.

i remember an interesting thing very simaler to that. i was on my way to crushbone whene 2 camps of orcs attacked me. i went to zone to crushbone but was killed exactly on the zone border. i went back to loot my corpse and it was gone! i etitioned a gm and got a reply in 20 minuts (very quick) the gm said that this "zoning corpse" was a comon bug. i was cunfused as i always am. he told me to zone to crushbone and i found my courps. it apperantly zoned on its own. i think a necro had something to do with it. /em raises an eye at gael

p.s. well ok. i guess its not all that simaler.

It happens to me all the time...at this very moment my wood elf is stuck on a ledge in POK...my Beastlord Mystique got stuck under FoB I have tons of SC if I find out how to get them up I'll post them..I finally found "water" and was able to drown myself..my corpse finally rotted since I was unable to get the attention of a GM and I forgot about necros...
(Really stupid..I play with a necro for 3 years and this is what i get)
fast forward about a month of no playing and the first time I log in my stuff is back in my inventory :) it seems somewhere along the line a GM saw it and helped out
