Does anyone have an idea if they consider this a success? As of today, the 6th of July at PM PST, I see 113 people on. I don't know how many people they expect to get this when they have the mac web page at the bottom of the screen next to the ring tones.
But anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew when they are going to start updating it. I would love to see everything resent put in other than LoY at least.

Where can you see the number for the servers? I've been watching in-game zone populations and it is going up but not very fast. Keep in mind the sever has only been up for a couple of weeks though.

I do a /who all <race> and add them all up. I just want to know if we should be expecting any real updates any time soon.
Wish they would post something on the main page.

I believe they plan on moving the mac version forward towards where the pc version is, but at this point the mac version of the server is synced where the pc version was last october.

, we don't anticipate adding any new code to EverQuest for the Macintosh until all the new players have had an opportunity to settle in.

From the official FAQ.
I know that they plan on getting them synced if the mac version sold well enough but what is their idea of being settled in?
I am ready for shared bank slots, new spell mem system and what not.

I dont know if I am typical...but I am at least a month away from playing...prepping for the Bar Exam right now and then a vacation w/ the girlfriend. I expected EQMac to have a slow rollout...but it will probably pick up now that Apple is offering it as a possible freebie for reupping w/ .mac...

Cheers

I would think that eventually the Mac side will eventually catch up the PC side given the fact that Sony will be putting most of its energy into EQ2 on the PC side. I haven't heard whether Sony will continue to add expansions to EQ on the PC side to keep the interest going or they are just going to let it go and try and get everyone to eventually switch to EQ2.

Plus there was a holiday weekend, etc, so more people might be away. I've barely been able to play since the first few days of release.

EQPC became popular through word of mouth. We just have to wait for people to realize how much fun the game is.

EQ2 is a different development team and they already have 3 expansions planned for the future including Lost dungeons.
Another thing they could do to help sale is treat it like the legend server but without the high monthly fee.

The biggest problem I see with getting new people to join (at least for me), is that all the people I know who haven't played EQ think it's evil crack and you'll get addicted for life and it's such a waste of time :/ Even the mac people who are new to this wonderful revolution of computer games! They all hiss and boo when I mention EverQuest. I have a few friends who I think might actually enjoy the game...some of them I know wouldn't be able to play for certain reasons, others I know choose to never touch the box for really no reason at all other than they think it sucks. /shrug I am the only person in this city playing EQ on mac. lol

I like that it comes with a 7 day key as well. Tell one of your friends to shut up, sit down and play it for a week. If they does not like it after that then they can say how evil and old and whatever it is.
My wife hated this game and then one day she sat down at my pc and started playing. Five hours later I went to get her a copy for herself. Now she has a 58 cleric with a clicky on Emarr.

Weirdly enough, I don't know anyone else who has a Mac around here. The Apple Store is about 35 minutes away so I only occasionally head over there but that sounds like a good place to meet potential new players. Btw, I never plan on playing PC EQ again.

In a city of well over 100k with students, I think I'm the only Mac EQ player.

I think I am the only Mac Gamer here in Anchorage playing EQ right now. I have been playing often at the local Internet cafes "Kaladi Brothers", which is a big Mac hang-out and no one has tried it as of yet.

I did the same thing as the 1st post, added up all races and I counted this Saturday at noon my time (4pm east coast) only 103 players. This is just not enough to play Everquest.

Sure, its fine for now, but when we are all getting to 40+, we are in big trouble for raids and Epic quests that require a few large groups.

Also, I see myself playing my Level 29 Cleric and Warrior (2 PC's) on Stromm and my 58 Monk on Drinal when I am really wanting to raid. Right now the biggest Raid I have seen was 19 peps in Pal's Caverns.

And with the recent "very cool" expansions coming on the PC version, I think I may just get bored with EQMac.

But for now my Bard will be making Level 20 this eve after work, I will see what happens.

Cheers
