So today in /Aliiance, many players were debating about many raiding issues between the guilds on Al'Kabor, in which got me thinking...

What if there was a server-wide, Open raid force, that could band together to bring targets down throughout the week when guilds are not raiding? I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that soloing and basic grouping is becoming dull. Why do we do it? Because we're trying to get high enough level to raid with our respected guilds.

Being on this server for quite some time, I noticed that many players are happy just helping one-another with quests, loot and basic tasks. Is this not why Al'Kabor has such a great community? Why does it seem like once we hit the high levels, everyone hates each other?

Thoughts?

Why could'nt an open raid force work?

This already exists. My guild, <Dark Conquest> hosts open raids three times per week. Everyone on the server is welcome to attend.

In short, here is how loot works:

We keep track of attendance points. You start at zero. Unless you are a member of <Temerity> or <Destiny>, you accumulate points for attending raids.

When an item drops, you can "bid" your points for it. The highest bidder gets the item, but his or her points reset to zero. If no one bids, you can /random 100 for it. If nobody randoms, it rots. Other than the exception for <Temerity> and <Destiny> members, your guild tag has zero impact on loot distribution.

Right now, <Dark Conquest> is on the Vex Thal and Seru rotations and we are working on progressing to the elemental planes. We're probably about 10 people short of cracking elementals. I would encourage any and all of you to consider joining our guild, and if you're not interested in that, please consider attending our weekly raids.

Our schedule is (generally) as follows:

Tuesdays: 9 p.m. Eastern
Wednesdays: 9 p.m. Eastern
Saturdays: 6 p.m. Eastern

We have a different schedule during our Vex Thal rotation. You can see a nice summary of our regular raiding schedule and the VT schedule here: http://www.darkconquest.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1115

Hope to see you at one of our raids!

No guild has open raids. By open, I assume you mean the loot is available to anyone no matter what guild they are a member. It is a nice idea, if you can get open raids going.....awesome.

I saw the alliance discussion. It was Lron, Muess, Thuule, me and a few others. It was actually pretty civil. But yeah, what Frosst said. DC hosts open raids.

Hey Cuts, I wouldn't say at all that people on here hate each other at higher levels. In fact, there have been many multi-guild collaborations on here.... Tunare has died 6 or 7 times in an attempt to get Jian a snare-stick, and at least one person from every guild has been to each of those raids so far. We also did a server-wide curb stomping of the 7th Hammer last spring, which was a blast! I just hosted a un-advertised VP raid a week and a half ago that had DC, Temerity, and Pathfinders toons involved.

The issue with collaborative raiding comes down to many factors, one of the big ones being time constraints.... I know one of the big considerations I made a while ago when choosing a guild came down to what times I'm free to raid. We have players on the server all over the globe, so it isn't a cut-and-dry issue of "I hate you because you are in guild XXX". In fact, I have friends in each guild on the server, and the server-wide raids have been some of my favorite memories to date.

I host the odd Grimling War, Ring of Fire and Inner AC raid events.

If there's any interest, I'm more than happy to host either the Grimling War or Archmage raid this Sunday, noon EST.

I'd be interested in an open raiding alliance.

My hours of playtime are anything but peak-hours, so anything to allow more content is welcome.

Yeah there are some old server politics which will stop some people attending but time constraints are really the big thing stopping this imo. Personally I'd be interested but I'm in the UK and have pretty limited play time which is already taken up by guild activities so it's unlikely there would be a time that I'd be able to make.

I have been setting up a few casual raids on the weekends and this evolved as a spinoff of that.

There's nothing to prevent someone hosting open raids. It gets talked about as a formal idea every few months, oftentimes spearheaded by someone who doesn't otherwise get to raid much for whatever reason. Ironically though it's people like Jian and Gnostica (both officers in their guilds) who host most of the open raids that exist on the server.

If you like the idea, run with it. No one will stop you from planning.
