Progression and P99 are two very different things.

Aye. I assumed Dunski was talking about two different things in this post.

They are indeed very different but there is one thing P1999 and Flippy Darkpaw do share in common: PC

Wow, just looked at Fippy's progression timeline. The very first/easiest recorded event is a Phinny kill on Feb 19, 2011. Fast-forward to the latest one: AHR died on Dec 4, 2011. 9.5 months from the lowliest Classic raid kill to defeating the end-boss of Luclin. Some of that has to be the relative easy-mode and the higher population, but still, damn that's fast. At the very least, nobody's stopping to smell any roses over there heh (and keep in mind, after killing the end of each expansion, it seems they have to vote to move forward and then wait a bit before the unlock?).

95% of that is the 67-day wait period between expansions. Without that, AHR would have been dead within a month of Phinny.

Maybe not a month but probably not far off it. Loads of the players on that server have absolutely no lives whatsoever. They literally hang around spawn points for hours in a row waiting for a mob to spawn so they can gank it with more numbers than we typically have online on our whole server most days. Definitely not the kind of people we need on AK.

If i remenber properly, AoW died the day velious opened up on Fippy.

Mage zerg army probably. Mage pets are significantly more powerful on PC-side.

AoW died because everyone knows what to do - how to do it. Fippy isn't terrible but I am thinking of buying macs to come play on al'kabor. I'd like to run 3 toons but I can't decide which 3 would be best.

there's a couple "god" combos on here that are pretty unstoppable.... for 3-boxxing i think the best idea would be to make 3 low-maintenance toons that require minimal attention. for instance a shaman/warrior/wizard: the warrior you just leave on /autoattack and taunt a few times, the shaman you have him slow at the beginning of a fight and heal when the warrior needs it, and the wizard you just throw in a nuke or two when you feel like it.

in response to the above quote, this is WAYYYY different than PC side. without AA's or sufficient time to farm Velious-era gear, there's no way on our server that AoW would die to a Kunark-geared raid unless it was a 60-70 person raid with a ton of clerics in the healing rotation, like 19+. from kelethin to erudin to thugardin, PC side is a completely unrecognizable beast from what it was in '99 or 2002.

I don't think you could gear a tank in Kunark equipment well enough to prevent him from being one-rounded here on AoW.

Yeah toons on PC side also have an inherent HP/Mana boost in the range of 1-2k in the 60s

You won't get one rounded through discipline, but once your discipline drops it's on to the next tank. With 60 to 70 people it's not that surprising it'd be doable.

Considering the top 2 raid guilds on fippy have raidforces from 60 to 100 its not shocking. Also with VP gear - and using a 3 war rotation with defensive those wars can live long enough to get the job done.

In addition toons have more hp than they used to and toons like monks have ridiculous ratio's with their fists (was real overpowered in kunark/velious).

I was thinking of beast/druid/mage or sk/sham/chanter but im afraid the 2nd one won't have the dps I need to be viable.

The other combo I considered was ranger/cleric/mage.

Chanter will give you more dps than you ever need, if you're willing to give up flexibility on where you can level. (Oh, and occasionally die hilarious deaths.)

Also a related question: what is most needed in the end game raid scene (if there is one) beasts, sks, pallys or rangers?

Sks and pallies always play an active role in end game, rangers are up there in dps but you have to like being ridiculed all the time for well ...being a ranger. BSTs are imo a very fun class but can be a little boring in raid, and your pet is REALLY REALLY dumb on al'kabor.
