If you're like me and the slightest inconsequential things annoy the hell out of you, you might dislike having to visit SOE's website in your browser every time you want to play EQ. As it turns out, it's trivially easy to set up a site-specific browser to visit the new patcher and act like a native Mac application, so you can launch EQ like you used to. You can even stick it in your dock.

1. Download
Prism. It's made by Mozilla, the people that publish Firefox. (I initially tried this with
Fluid, but EQ crashed every time I started it up. You might have better luck, but I can confirm that Prism works just fine.)
2. Run Prism. Paste the patcher URL (
http://launch.soe.com/lp3/index.html?game=eqmac) into the URL field and any name (I used "EQMac") into the name field.
3. Leave everything unchecked except for "Applications Folder" under Shortcuts. Just delete the application from your Applications folder if you want to get rid of it.
4. If you want an icon and are too lazy to make one yourself, you can use
the one I made by skillfully taking the original EQ icon and quadrupling its size.
5. Hit okay, launch the application from your applications folder, resize it (only need to do so once), pin it to the dock if you like, and you're done.
