i'm thinking about returning and potentially 2 or 3 boxing. What is everyone's dream 3 box combo for this game. Especially high end PoP type stuff. enc/cleric/mag? I definitly like the enc/cler/....? combo.

Is that mostly because of snare? I used to box a druid/necro. If i remember correctly This combination was unbelievably good at xp type farming and in group/raid situations but when it came to soloing guys that droppped useful items or anything indoors they really couldn't do much without another person or two.

Definitely clr/enc/mag or clr/enc/sham if you're charming in PoP. There's nothing any other third class can contribute that'll make up for no malosinia.

It depends. When I had three accounts, I had a less-than-optimal trio of monk/shaman/druid. And I could take out all the bot named and minis (though gaukr required raid buffs). Even with a monk/shaman combo you can comfortably take out the bot named though some will be tight (ie Erech).

While monks are good dps, they are not ideal tanks so I could have probably done more with a paladin or SK as melee class. Key thing is a melee class / slowing class / healing class for your 3-man team.

I box Druid/Enc right now. If I had to pick a 3rd, it would be Cleric, with shaman close behind.

Well ive already got a 65 druid. So im leaning towards levelling the trio of mage/enc/cleric. How well do mage pets tank at higher leves? 50+?

They key class is definitely the enchanter. The DPS and tanking abilities of a good charmed pet is miles ahead of any non charming group.

As said before me, the optimal classes to team up with you chanter would be a combination of Cleric, Druid, Magician & Druid.

Here's a quick basic run down.

Cleric
Rezing and unmatched healing power. Complete heals of 7k(?) are pretty important when you are taking out a raid target. Charming means dying quite often so being able to rez is important. Clerics can offer spell haste too.

Druid
Snare from a druid is very helpful when charming with your enc as it ads a level of safety when charm breaks. Druids can add some nuke dps and heal quite well too (4k) but cannot match the cleric for healing. Druids can also charm animals. Ports. SoW.

Magician
Malosinia debuff. This will help your charm pets stay charmed for longer - this is quite important if you are relying on 1 pet. Added nuke dps (level with druid), extra pet for dps and back up tanking. Mages can also charm elementals. COTH - having the ability to summon group members is quite handy and can be used to pull off some difficult pulls as it wipes aggro. Pet pulling.

Shaman
Malosinia debuff - again same deal as mage. Your chanter can slow but the shaman can do it better. DoT dps. Healing similar to druid. Extra pet for dps and back up tanking. SoW.

I'm fairly new to the enchanter class, but I've level'd one up and absolutely loving him. I've been boxing a druid and partnering up with a friend who's playing a mage and cleric. I'm absolutely loving this team, we can accomplish quite a lot and will be pushing the limits a lot further soon with better gear and more aa's. Dropping just one of these classes would be kind of difficult as all 4 add something valuable.

With that setup, you will lean more towards charm killing than pet killing.

Mage pets are able to tank but they're really not that great higher levels. They can handle the 64 named minis in BoT but its a bit hairy until slow lands and even then you need to be careful.

But yeh, as judah said, with that set up you should be charm killing.

Since you already have a druid at 65 I'd just level an ench/mage unless you're planning to 4 box then add in a cleric. That snare is a lifesaver :)
